Paris, Oct 20. – According to the latest report released by Transparency International shows that corruption among Iranian government officials has increased.

Iran now ranks 88 in the Corruption Perceptions Index compared to 78 last year. The figures reflect the increasing economical haul that is plaguing Iran.

The report is based on 18 different research tasks by 12 separate international organizations.

Altogether the agency’s list evaluated 146 countries. Finland ranked 1st for the second consecutive year.

The report also gave a mark out of ten to each country with 10 signifying the least amount of government corruption. Iran was given a mark of 2.9 which is slightly less than its record last year when it got a mark of 3. Analysts say that this is based on rampant social fraud at the highest levels of government.

Iran experts say that Iran’s influential former President Ali Akbar Rafsanjani who is currently the head of Iran’s State Expediency Council is at the forefront of economic corruption.
