Tehran, Iran, Apr. 05 – The new British ambassador to Iran, Geoffrey Adams, presented his credentials to Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Wednesday.

Adams has replaced Sir Richard Dalton who will transfer to another Diplomatic Service appointment, the British Foreign Office had previously said on its website.

Adams, 48, had been the Principal Private Secretary to British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw from 2003 to 2005.

Prior to that he had been the United Kingdom’s Consul General in Jerusalem, acting as the Representative to the Palestinian Authority.

His diplomatic service dates back to 1979.
