TEHRAN – A bus and a truck collided in southeast Iran killing 15 people and injuring 20 others, the official IRNA news agency reported on Wednesday.

“The accident happened after the truck driver strayed into the other lane,” Abbas Moqadam, a police officer in Sistan-Baluchestan province, was quoted as saying.

The vehicles crashed on Tuesday afternoon on the road from Zabol to Zahedan about 30 km (19 miles) from the Pakistani border. Iran has one of the highest road accident rates in the world, averaging five deaths every two hours.
