The Iranian government has so far announced twelve deaths linked to the coronavirus outbreak, making Iran the country with the highest number of fatalities outside of China. While Turkey’s Health Minister said that his Iranian counterpart told him that 758 people could be infected.
Why is the situation so bad there? Well, the ayatollahs have hidden the facts from the people, which has left them dangerously uninformed. No wonder the virus has spread so far, so fast. The key to battling the coronavirus is providing the correct information so that people know what symptoms to look out for and how to avoid spreading it.
Even these statistics released by the government are lies. Last week, the government said two people died of the coronavirus, after claiming for a couple of days that this was not the case. The residents of Qom said at least 12 have died and 200 had tested in their area alone.
This has led to protests across the country, with residents in Lahijan, Talesh, Rudbar, and Isfahan angry at the government officials’ denial and secrecy.
In Talesh, locals clashed with security forces after it was revealed that authorities had transferred four coronavirus patients from Rasht to a hospital in their city. They were angry that local officials would put their community in danger in this way, but the anti-riot units responded by firing tear gas at the crowds to disperse.
While students at Tehran’s Beheshti University and students in Ilam were demanding their highly congested campuses be closed as a precautionary measure so that they could return home.
Iranian Resistance President Maryam Rajavi called on the World Health Organization (WHO) to dispatch supervisory and medical teams to Iran to end the ayatollahs’ dangerous cover-up.
She tweeted: “Ignoring people’s lives and well-being, the criminal ayatollahs covered up coronavirus cases in a bid to bring crowds for Feb. 11 revolution anniversary and the sham election. Now, the virus has rapidly spread across the nation because people were kept in the dark. I again urge WHO to dispatch supervisory and medical teams to Iran and request physicians and nurses to advise and assist the people to confront the virus. The government must put medical resources monopolized by the ayatollahs and the IRGC at the disposal of the people, hospitals and physicians.”
The WHO chief told a press conference that the spread of the coronavirus in Iran is concerning, with the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon reporting that people returning or arriving from Iran testing positive, and urged the ayatollahs to provide more information to the Iranian people.
The coronavirus outbreak in Iran even infected the mayor of Tehran’s District 13, so the City Council has closed down for a week.
