Tehran, Iran, Feb. 28 – The Chairman of Iran’s State Expediency Council (SEC), Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, has kept his top post in the constitutional body that arbitrates in disputes between Iran’s parliament and the Guardians Council.

In a decree, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, appointed a new board of members to the SEC on Tuesday. The council’s 44 members are appointed for five-year terms.

Rafsanjani, a former president of Iran, has been chairman of the SEC for two consecutive terms.
