Tehran, Iran, Mar. 05 – A senior Iranian envoy said on Monday that the Islamic Republic would only show cooperation over its nuclear program if its nuclear dossier was removed from the agenda of the United Nations Security Council and returned before the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The Security Council imposed mild economic sanctions against Tehran in December for its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment.

“Iran will only cooperate with the IAEA if its nuclear file is returned to this agency”, Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh, Iran’s ambassador to the UN nuclear watchdog, was quoted as having said by the government-owned news agency Fars.

Soltaniyeh strongly criticised likely further sanctions against Tehran over its nuclear pursuit.
