Tehran, Iran, Oct. 27 – Hossein Qazavi has been appointed as the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), state media announced on Saturday.

Qazavi was appointed to the post on Friday by hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the government-owned English daily Tehran Times reported on its website.

Qazavi previously served as a member of the Export Development Bank of Iran (EDBI) board of directors.

He took over as CBI deputy governor from Mohammad-Javad Vahaji, who had occupied the post since 2003.
