Tehran, Iran, Nov. 13 – The head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog Mohamed ElBaradei will make a trip to Iran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini told state-run news agencies on Tuesday.

ElBaradei, the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, will be reporting in November to the UN nuclear agency’s 35-nation board of governors on whether Tehran has been adhering to its nuclear obligations.

The UN Security Council has so far adopted two resolutions imposing sanctions on Iran over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment.

Hosseini told the official news agency IRNA that ElBaradei’s visit to Iran was on the agenda but the exact time would be announced after mutual confirmation.

He made the remarks in response to reports in foreign media earlier in the day that Iranian officials had rebuffed ElBaradei’s proposal to visit Tehran.
