London, Dec. 07 The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged Iran to comply fully with successive Security Council resolutions requiring it to halt uranium enrichment.
I believe it is important that [the”> Iranian Government should fully comply with the relevant Security Council resolutions, Ban told reporters at the UN in New York on Thursday before heading off to a conference in Bali.
[The”> Iranians have been enriching uranium against Security Council resolutions. Therefore, I would, again, urge, as the Secretary-General, that they should fully comply with the Security Council resolutions that is important, Ban said.
He called on Tehran to faithfully work with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to implement the work program they had concluded.
At the same time, the Iranian authorities should make quite clear their past activities [on”> nuclear issues, working together with the IAEA, he said, adding that it was up to the member states of the Security Council what further action they would take on the issue.
Tehran has so far defied UN Security Council resolutions 1696, 1737, and 1747 calling on it to halt its uranium enrichment activities. Resolutions 1737 and 1747 have both imposed sanctions on Tehran in an effort to force the Islamic Republic to abandon its aggressive stance.
