Tehran, Iran, Mar. 11 – Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned Slovenia’s charge d’affair Matjaz Puc to convey its anger at what it called “violations of religious sanctities” in the European Union, state media reported on Monday.

The Slovenian official received a letter from the Ministry stating that freedom of expression in the 27-nation bloc must not allow a disrespecting of Islam.

The letter cited Denmark, Holland and Sweden as three countries which had increased “blasphemous measures” against the Islamic prophet.

Slovenia currently holds the EU’s rotating presidency.
