ImageTehran, Iran, Apr. 19 – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister has warned Germany that it would “lose out” if it did not take the “ideal opportunity” to sustain trade.

"Who is losing out, you have to ask yourself", state television quoted Mehdi Safari as saying at a press conference in Berlin on Friday.

Safari was making a clear reference to the diminishing level of German exports to Iran.

Figures released in February by the German Economics Ministry show that Germany’s exports to Iran decreased by over 1 billion Euros from 4.3 billion euros (US $6.8 billion) in 2006 to 3.2 billion euros (US $5 billion) in 2007.

"If you don't supply some of the parts, we will substitute them and it will be very hard to come back”, Safari warned. He was scheduled to meet with German Foreign Ministry officials.
