ImageTehran, Iran, May 15 – Iran criticised the European Union over a statement it issued condemning comments made by Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad against the state of Israel, state media reported on Wednesday.

"This is the second time that an unreasonable statement has been issued while Slovenia holds the rotating presidency of the European Union", said an Iranian Foreign Ministry statement. The contents of the statement were announced on state television.

The EU's Slovenian Presidency last week condemned comments made by Ahmadinejad in relation to the state of Israel. This is the second such condemnation of Tehran by the 27-nation bloc.  In March, the EU denounced Iran’s parliamentary elections as "neither free, nor fair".
