ImageTehran, Iran, Jul. 26 – Iran announced on Saturday that it would execute 30 people in the next 24 hours.

The state-run daily Aftab wrote that all 30 would be executed at dawn on Sunday.

The government-owned news agency Mehr on Friday quoted the Office of Tehran’s Public Prosecutor as saying that the 30 individuals, whom it described as “trouble-makers of Tehran”, had been convicted of adultery, drug trafficking or murder.

Iranian authorities routinely execute dissidents on bogus charges such as armed robbery and drug smuggling.
