"We are eager to cooperate with Iran's vehicle-manufacturing industry", Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said after a visit to Iran's second-largest car company, Saipa.

Iran's official state broadcaster said that Iran and Tajikistan had reached an agreement that would allow Iranian companies to set up a vehicle-manufacturing factory in Dushanbe soon.

Tajikistan annually needs some 70,000 cars, Rahmon said, adding that Iranian manufactured automobiles could meet his county's needs.

Rahmon arrived in Tehran on Thursday for a two-day visit and met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The two signed a cooperation document calling for further collaboration in various fields. The two presidents also discussed setting up a railway among Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
