Tehran, Iran, Oct. 21 – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed to continue sensitive nuclear activities despite international pressure on Tehran to back down or face referral to the United Nations Security Council.

Addressing worshippers during Tehran’s Friday prayers, Khamenei said that the Iranian nation would never succumb to United States pressure and arrogance. “Our nation will not give up its absolute right under any circumstances”, the Supreme Leader said.

“Iran has today managed to obtain nuclear know-how, and today we have nuclear know-how and technology. What we don’t have – and what they are trying to prevent us from having – are proper equipment preparations for nuclear work”, Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Republic’s greatest obstacle to acquiring nuclear capabilities was the United States.

“Other countries such as Britain have adopted a very bad stance because of their closeness with America. Britain’s position towards Iran has been known for a long time”, he added.

Khamenei also blasted fellow Muslim countries that had economic or political ties to the state of Israel. He said that such countries were developing their relations in secret. Iranian officials have publicly denounced Pakistan for taking a conciliatory position towards the Jewish state.
