Tehran, Iran, Nov. 28 – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki repeated on Sunday calls by senior Iranian officials for a speedy departure of United States-led coalition troops in Iraq.

In a meeting with visiting Iraqi Vice-President Adel Abdul-Mahdi, Mottaki said that Iran would offer its full support to the upcoming elections in Iraq.

The Foreign Minister said that he hoped that following the parliamentary elections in December, “the stage would be set for a speedy exit of foreign forces from this country” and the return of stability and security in Iraq.

Abdul-Mahdi, who arrived in Tehran on Sunday for talks with senior Iranian officials, has also met with Iran’s former President Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Iranian Vice-President for Executive Affairs Ali Saeedlou.
