Tehran, Iran, Dec. 26 – Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said on Monday that the Islamic Republic wanted Islamic nations to unite, according to the Majlis wire service.

Haddad-Adel made the comments as he met with Basri Hassan-ol-Din, the Indonesian ambassador to Tehran.

“We strongly support unity among Islamic nations”, the Majlis Speaker said, adding that such unity was critical in preserving the interests of the nations.

Tehran is banking on Jakarta’s support in a possible upcoming showdown over its controversial nuclear activities which the West believes is for developing the A-bomb.
