The protests began soon after Shirazs Fajr team beat Persepolis 4-2 in Tehrans Azadi Stadium. Protestors ransacked the buses, smashing their windows with sticks and stones.
Shattered glass and demolished bus seats lined the highway leading from the stadium to the nearby city of Karaj.
