London, Jan. 24 The British Foreign Office announced on Tuesday that it was changing its ambassador to Iran later on in the year.
Geoffrey Adams CMG will be replacing Sir Richard Dalton who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment, the Foreign Office said on its website.
The new envoy will take up the post in March 2006.
Adams, 48, had been the Principal Private Secretary to British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw from 2003 to 2005.
Prior to that he had been the United Kingdoms Consul General in Jerusalem, acting as the Representative to the Palestinian Authority.
His diplomatic service dates back to 1979.
