Tehran, Iran, Feb. 06 – Iran Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi condemned on Monday a resolution by the board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency reporting Tehran’s nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council, the official state news agency reported.

“The action taken by the board of governors in this regard is a dark stain for international organisations”, Shahroudi said at a meeting of senior judiciary officials.

“From the beginning, their plan was for no Muslim country, especially the Islamic Republic, to have peaceful nuclear technology”, the Judiciary Chief charged.

The senior cleric described nuclear capability as Iran’s “natural right”, adding that nations have become “aware” that the “era of technological colonialism” was over.

He told the world to take note that Iran would stand against any “conspiracy”.

“The Muslim and vigilant people in Islamic Iran will resist western plots and Zionists’ conspiracies at all times and consider confronting such plots as a duty”, he added.

Shahroudi also blamed “Zionists” for the publication in the European press of cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammad negatively – an action which sparked protests across Europe.

“The Zionists are trying to desecrate Islamic sanctities. This has incited the sentiments of Muslims worldwide and brought about their strong reaction in various countries”, he said.

“This unforgivable insult stems from blasphemy against all the divine messengers. The primary instigator of this action is global Zionism”, he added.
