Tehran, Iran, Feb. 06 – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday that the Islamic Republic would not back down even in the slightest manner in its drive to obtain nuclear capabilities.

The West should know “the Iranian nation will not back down in the slightest manner regarding its natural and unalienable right” to nuclear technology, Mottaki said after a meeting with his Nigerian counterpart, the state-run news agency ISNA reported. “Our inalienable right to use nuclear energy stems from our membership in the Non-Proliferation Treaty”.

The report added that the two officials had agreed on the need for “Islamic unity”, “confronting the conspiracies and plans to tarnish the existence of the Islamic world”, and “awakening of Muslim nations” to defeat the “enemies”.

On Saturday, the board of governors of the United Nations nuclear watchdog voted to report Tehran’s suspected nuclear weapons file to the Security Council.
