Tehran, Iran, Mar. 05 Irans foreign ministry spokesman said on Sunday that his government was not after bargaining over its nuclear program and that Tehran would not be willing to suspend its nuclear research at its uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, the official news agency IRNA reported.
Hamid-Reza Asefis comments came on the eve of a crucial meeting of representatives of the 35 nations on the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna to discuss Irans nuclear program.
The Europeans say that Iran should not carry out [nuclear”> research and we say that this is our right, Asefi told reporters during his weekly press conference in Tehran.
We believe that threats and pressure have no effect on the Islamic Republic of Iran since this is our path and we will follow it.
We are not after bargaining. We have rights which the West must accept, Asefi said.
He repeated allegations by Irans chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani that the Untied States was sabotaging possible deals between Iran and Russia or Europe. Each time the conditions seem ripe [for a deal”>, America creates obstacles.
