Iran’s Ahmadinejad rejects Europe’s nuclear deal

Iran Focus: Tehran, Iran, May 17 – Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rejected on Wednesday a European proposal aimed at ending the international deadlock over Tehran’s suspected nuclear weapons program. Tehran, Iran, May 17 – Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rejected on Wednesday a European proposal aimed at ending the international deadlock over Tehran’s suspected nuclear weapons program. He also hinted once again that Tehran may leave the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

“The enemies of Iran think that they are dealing with a small child and can say that they will give a few walnuts and chocolates and take their gold in exchange. They tell us that if we suspend the [nuclear”> fuel cycle and they will make considerations”, Ahmadinejad told a gathering in Arak, central Iran. His comments were aired live on state television.

The European three – Britain, France, and Germany – with the backing of the United States, China, and Russia, are preparing a package of incentives to offer Iran in return for it to suspend its uranium enrichment activities. As part of the package, the EU will pledge to assist Iran in building a light-water reactor inside Iran.

“The Iranian nation will stand to the very end to realise its just nuclear rights. Threats and petty incentives will not create a gap in the determination of the nation”, Ahmadinejad said, adding that Tehran would not abandon its nuclear “right” in the slightest bit.

“The powers must not do something that the [International”> Atomic Energy Agency would lose its reputation and members of the NPT forsake it”.

“The Iranian nation will not accept any suspension [of enrichment”> or an agreement since it bitterly experienced this in the past three years and will not experience it again”.

He said that “bullying powers” would lose the most from their aggressive attitude towards Iran.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations Security Council have called on Tehran to suspend all its uranium enrichment activities.
