Tehran, Iran, Jul. 28 – Iran said on Friday that the United Nations Security Council could not deprive it of its “inalienable right” to obtain nuclear capabilities.

“The United Nations Security Council cannot deprive the great Iranian nation from its inalienable right to obtain peaceful nuclear technology”, senior Iranian cleric Ahmad Khatami told Friday prayers worshippers in Tehran. His remarks were aired live on state television.

“Islamic Iran will under no circumstances give up its inalienable right to obtain peaceful nuclear technology”, Khatami said.

“The Europeans handed their package of proposals but they started the Security Council process on Iran’s nuclear file before Iran gave its response to this package”, he said, adding, “The core of their negotiations was deception and mischief”.
