Tehran, Iran, Sep. 11 – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has appointed Mohammad-Ali Hosseini as the new spokesman of his ministry, state television reported.

Iran Focus had reported last week that incumbent Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi would soon be resigning.

There is speculation that Asefi is being considered for appointment as Iran’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

Hosseini currently heads the Evaluation and Supervision Department of the Foreign Ministry.
