Tehran (dpa) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Wednesday that Iran would not make the ‘slightest compromise’ with the West over its nuclear programmes.

‘As far as we are concerned, the nuclear issue is closed. We already possess nuclear technology, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is supervising our programmes and we are ready to hold fair talks with the West over our projects,’ Ahmadinejad said in a speech in Ardebil, north-western Iran.

‘But the West still wants some concessions from us … but I herewith announce that the Iranian nation will not make even the slightest compromise over its nuclear programmes,’ the president added in the speech which was carried live by state television.
