Tehran, Feb. 24 – A spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI) has condemned as "hollow" a new nuclear proposal put forward by Western nations to the UN nuclear watchdog to deal with Iran's nuclear defiance, state media reported.
"The US, French and Russian representatives to the IAEA in their letter recognised Iran's need for radioisotopes while presenting a ‘simple-minded' proposal to the country to provide for its needed fuel through international markets", Ali Shirzadian was quoted as saying by the state-run Fars news agency on Tuesday.
"The lies and infamy of the West was unveiled by their hollow nuclear proposals to Iran presented through an official letter to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)", Shirzadian added.
Iran has shown no intention of curtailing its nuclear activities. The P5+1 group of nations – Britain, France, Germany, China, Russia and the US – are currently in high level talks to put together and implement a new sanctions program to deal with Iran's nuclear threat.
