Russia calls for U.S.-IAEA-Iran meet on fuel delivery

Reuters: Russia’s Foreign Minister called for a meeting between Iran, the United States, Russia and the IAEA on nuclear fuel delivery for the Islamic Republic’s medical reactor, Itar-TASS news agency reported.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s Foreign Minister called for a meeting between Iran, the United States, Russia and the IAEA on nuclear fuel delivery for the Islamic Republic’s medical reactor, Itar-TASS news agency reported.

Sergei Lavrov, speaking to Itar-TASS in Jerusalem, did not give details on the nature of the proposed discussions.

Iran had hoped to avoid the latest round of international sanctions by offering to send some of its low enriched uranium abroad in return for higher grade fuel — enriched elsewhere — for the Tehran reactor, which makes isotopes for treating cancer.
