TEHRAN, June 14 (UPI) – Iran is ready to reaffirm its commitment to international nuclear protocols to allay global concerns, a government spokesman said in Tehran.

Iranian nuclear negotiators met this year with members of the U.N. Security Council as well as delegates from the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Tehran is suspected of pursuing the technology needed to produce a nuclear weapon, an allegation the government denies.

Iranian Foreign Minister spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the government was eager to restate its commitment to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

“The Islamic republic of Iran is ready for further cooperation in order to allay the international community’s concerns,” he was quoted by state-funded broadcaster Press TV as saying.

IAEA Deputy Director General Herman Nackaerts said after last week’s meetings with Iranian officials in Vienna that talks were “disappointing” after delegates came forward “in a constructive spirit.”

Another round of talks between Iran and the five permanent members of the Security Council — the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China — along with Germany are scheduled for next week in Moscow.
