Tehran, Iran, Oct. 15 – Iran’s Friday prayers leader vowed that Tehran would continue with its controversial nuclear activities despite Western threats to refer the country’s atomic file to the United Nations Security Council.

Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani also blamed the United States for insecurity in Iraq and the Middle East region.

Addressing worshippers in Tehran, Emami-Kashani said that the “World arrogance”, or United States, should take note that the Islamic Republic was “unable” to back down in the nuclear stand-off.

“The Islamic Republic is unable to turn back from this right and based on what is beneficial will obtain this right”.

“Backing down in the slightest way from this right will bring about a heavy burden for us”, Emami- Kashani said.

The senior cleric added that after September 11, 2001, U.S. conduct created greater insecurity in the world. He cited Iraq and Afghanistan as nations that were suffering from insecurity because of U.S. policy.

“What you suggested as greater security for the region and the world has resulted in nothing other than insecurity and instability”, Emami-Kashani added.
