Tehran, Iran, Nov. 09 – Iran’s national security chief Ali Larijani said that Iran was not afraid of having its nuclear dossier sent before the United Nations Security Council, the state-run news agency IRNA reported on Wednesday.

Larijani, secretary-general of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and a key ally of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said threats to refer Tehran to the international body could never be an “effective tool” to force the Islamic Republic to give its nuclear “rights”.

He said that Tehran was hoping to involve states such as Russia, China, and countries in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in the stalled nuclear talks, which had so far been held with the European 3 – Britain, France, and Germany.

There was a “limit to Tehran’s patience” vis-à-vis inspections, Larijani, who had been a senior Revolutionary Guards commander, said, adding that Tehran was “quite aware of the fact that all these were just a scheme to rob Iran of valuable opportunities”.

Mimicking British Prime Minister Tony Blair, IRNA said that the British leader was strongly working with “his master George W. Bush” to have Iran referred to the Security Council.

Larijani dismissed Blair’s recent stances against the Islamic Republic as “part of a media propaganda”.
