Tehran, Iran, Jan. 13 – Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed Friday morning that the Islamic Republic would continue steadfast in its quest to obtain nuclear capabilities.

Speaking in the southern town of Bastak, Ahmadinejad said that his government “would not have the slightest fear of the superpowers’ threats”, an apparent reference to the decision by the European Union to send Tehran’s nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council for possible sanctions.

The EU adopted the stance after Iran breached its nuclear agreement with France, Germany, and the United Kingdom and began uranium enrichment-related work at a plant in Natanz, central Iran. Tehran is suspected of pursuing a nuclear weapons program under the cover of technological advancements.

“The Iranian nation will not give in to pressures”, the hard-line President said, the state-run ISNA news agency reported.

Addressing countries that oppose Iran’s nuclear quest, Ahmadinejad said, “Go ahead and be angry with us and then die with your anger!”
