Reuters: China urged Iran on Tuesday to fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency to defuse a standoff over its nuclear ambitions.
BEIJING (Reuters) – China urged Iran on Tuesday to fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency to defuse a standoff over its nuclear ambitions.
Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing told a news conference in Beijing that Iran as a Non-Proliferation Treaty signatory has the right to peaceful use of nuclear power, but must fulfil its NPT obligations.
There was still room for a peaceful resolution of the Iran nuclear standoff, he added.
The IAEA said on Monday a deal to defuse the standoff was still possible after a surge of diplomacy involving Russia and the top European Union powers.
