Tehran, Iran, Aug. 09 – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered on Tuesday Muslims across the world to support the Lebanese militia Hezbollah in its ongoing battle against Israel.

“Today, the most important duty of all the followers of the Islamic faith is jihad for the cause of God”, Khamenei told a gathering. “Supporting and defending Hezbollah is a duty for all Muslims”, he said.

“Today, the situation of Muslims is such that … the body of the Islamic umma is drenched in blood and Muslims in Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, and Afghanistan are being massacred”, he said.

He described Israel’s attack on Lebanon and Palestine as a “bitter phenomenon” and warned other Islamic nations that they could come under similar attacks.

Khamenei criticised the United States and Britain for “encouraging” the “crimes of the usurper Zionist regime” and blasted the “incompetence” of the United Nations to deal with the issue.

“Certain Islamic governments who have kept silent because of their considerations for the U.S. and other arrogant powers must know that the U.S. will never make any considerations for them”, he said.

“The U.S., with the support of the Zionists and certain wicked European governments such as Britain, is seeking to root out Islam from the region, since Islam is standing in the way of its greed. With the establishment of an Islamic order in Iran, Islamic sentiments and desires for jihad for the cause of Islam as well as the identity and pride of Islam will be revitalised in the Islamic world”.

He praised Hezbollah’s “jihad” against the Jewish state and said, “The Zionist regime’s army was known for being invincible and defeating the armies of three Arab states in a matter of six days. Today, however, after close to a month of using all the U.S.’s military power and support, it has not managed to gain the upper-hand against Hezbollah who are God’s crusaders and its is suffering constant defeats”.
