Tehran, Iran, Apr. 07 – Iranian police held up a 10-year-old girl in Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport for “mal-veiling”, state-run Persian-language websites reported on Friday.

The incident took place Tuesday afternoon as the unnamed girl and her father were in the airport heading to the city of Kerman.

Security officers held up the girl and accused her of wearing too short a manteau – the knee-length over-garment that all women must wear outdoors under Iran’s Islamic laws.

The report said that the girl’s father became incensed at the officers’ conduct towards his daughter and began to yell that his daughter knew more about Islam than they did.

“What crime has my daughter committed?” he yelled, as he slapped her once out of frustration.
