ImageTehran, Iran, Aug. 23 – A senior Iranian MP has accused the Argentine Judiciary of taking bribes following anger over the nomination of Revolutionary Guards Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi as Iran’s Defence Minister.

In reference to Ahmad Vahidi’s role in the bombing of a Jewish centre in Buenos Aires in 1994, Alaeddin Boroujerdi stated, "Zionists will not remain calm, but the important issue is the judge confessed that he had received bribery to probe the case". His remarks were reported by the state-run news agency ISNA on Sunday.

Boroujerdi heads the Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

Following a trial in Argentina, Ahmad Vahidi was convicted in absentia for the role that he played in the bombing. Ahmad Vahidi is currently wanted by Interpol for his role in the terrorist attack.
