Tehran, Jun. 14 – The Office of the late Grand Ayatollah Hossein-Ali Montazeri was locked and sealed on Monday by authorities in the holy city of Qom, according to his son, Ahmad.

The dissident cleric’s son told Prague-based Radio Farda that the action was taken by agents of the Office of the Prosecutor-General.

The office had been attacked by plain-clothes agents on Sunday. In the early hours of the morning on Monday, authorities broke the door, destroyed the material in the office and put up a seal at the entrance.

Ayatollah Montazeri’s son earlier this year had snubbed demands by senior clerics close to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to close his father’s offices.

Montazeri, who was openly critical of the Supreme Leader, died in December at the age of 87. Thousands of opposition supporters rallied against the government during his funeral.
