Iran Focus: Tehran, Oct. 22 – The Iranian government’s refusal to halt its nuclear enrichment activities in defiance of UN Security Council sanctions resolutions has resulted in tighter international sanctions which in turn are straining the Iranian economy.

Tehran, Oct. 22 – The Iranian government’s refusal to halt its nuclear enrichment activities in defiance of UN Security Council sanctions resolutions has resulted in tighter international sanctions which in turn are straining the Iranian economy.

The price of meat in Tehran in July and August was 120,000 to 180,000 rials (US $12-18) per kilo.

In September/October it rose three-fold to 350,000 rials ($35). Reports say that it will rise a further three-fold in November.

The price of dried barberries, which was 40,000 rials ($4) per kilo in July and August, has risen to 120,000 rials ($12) in September and October.
