London, 8 September – Reports that the Iranian Regime’s Intelligence Minister has met with German security officials in Berlin are being spread by the Iranian regime’s state media.

Mahmoud Alavi, the head of a government body dedicated to the suppression of its citizens, was reported invited by German authorities.

A report on the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI) website, said: “[The] Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz) has stressed in numerous reports that the mission of the Intelligence Ministry (MOIS) is the suppression of opposition inside and outside Iran and their main focus is espionage and following the People’s Mojahedin and the NCRI.”

Alavi is believed to have had direct involvement in the 1988 massacre which killed 30,000 people, the murders of intellectuals between 1998 and 2000, and more than 350 terrorist acts abroad, including the Mykonos restaurant assassinations in Berlin (1992).

The NCRI piece states that in 2015, an Iranian agent was sentenced to two years and four months for spying on Iranian Resistance members in Germany on the orders of Alavi.

It states that in accordance with German- and international- law, Alavi should be detained and prosecuted for his crimes.

Their statement read: “The Iranian Resistance condemns any exchange of information between German departments with the clerical regime’s secret service and considers it in violation of the basic rights of the opposition members who live in exile in Germany due to the suppression of this regime.”

Professor Winfried Hassemer, former vice president of the Supreme Constitutional Court in Germany, denounced influence of foreign policy interests and relations between Germany and Iran on security assessments about PMOI and the Iranian Resistance.
