Iran Focus: Tehran, Iran, Nov. 20 – Iran said on Sunday it had postponed repairs on its controversial Uranium Conversion Facility (UCF) in Isfahan, central Iran, to put to rest rumours that activity at the plant had been suspended as part of a frantic effort by Tehran to prevent the referral of its nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council at the forthcoming meeting of the board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Tehran, Iran, Nov.

The Mehr news agency, run by the office of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, quoted an “informed source” at the Supreme National Security Council as saying that the repair operations had nothing to do with the upcoming November 24 meeting of the IAEA governing board.

The anonymous source rejected that nuclear activities at the Isfahan plant had been temporarily suspended.

“The facility is still active”, the report said, adding that repairs would take 15 days and nuclear work at the UCF plant would resume thereafter.

The statement came as a Persian-language website claimed on Sunday that nuclear activities had been suspended at the Isfahan UCF due to repair work.
