Tehran, Iran, Feb. 12 – A top aide to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that “withstanding and resistance” in the face of foreign pressure vis-à-vis the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program is the nation’s will and that Tehran would never abandon its nuclear stance.

Former Foreign Minister and current international affairs adviser to the Supreme Leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, told the state-run ISNA news agency, “Withstanding and resistance in the face of imposed pressures from certain Western countries and relying on an indigenous nuclear energy program is the goal of the people”.

“The Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic of Iran will not retreat from their stance under any circumstances, since their stance is just”, Velayati said.

The International Atomic Energy Agency suspects Iran’s nuclear program is non-peaceful.
