Tehran, Iran, Feb. 28 – The secretary general of Islamic Republic’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, will lead a delegation to Moscow on Wednesday to hold talks with Russian officials on Iran’s nuclear program, the official state news agency reported on Tuesday.

Larijani will be accompanied by the head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI), Reza Aghazadeh; SNSC deputy for strategic affairs, Seyyed Ali Hosseini-Tash; and a number of Iranian nuclear officials to discuss a Russian proposal which requires Tehran to carry out uranium enrichment exclusively on Russian soil

The International Atomic Energy Agency says Iran has begun small-scale uranium enrichment, a process which can lead to the development of nuclear weapons.

Russia has said that Tehran must suspend enrichment activities before any deal could be reached, a request that has thus far been rejected by Tehran.

The IAEA has also called on Iran to suspend nuclear enrichment to allay international concerns that its ultimate aim is to obtain the A-bomb.
