Tehran, Iran, Jun. 26 – Former Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari arrived in Tehran on Monday to hold talks with Iranian officials, the government-run news agency Fars reported.

The ex-Iraqi Prime Minister had arrived in Tehran on an unofficial trip, the report said.

Al-Jaafari heads the Islamic Dawa Party, a Shiite group which has close ties to Iran.

His trip comes on the heels of separate trips to Iran by Iraqi Vice-President Adel Abdul-Mehdi and radical Iraqi Shiite cleric Abdul-Aziz Hakim, who heads the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI).
