Tehran, Iran, Nov. 06 – A top Iranian military commander said that a series of military manoeuvres Iran is carrying out in the Persian Gulf send a “clear” message to the country’s “enemies”.

“The enemies who have come from the other side of the seas in order to disrupt the security of the Middle East have gotten well the message of the Great Prophet [2″> military exercises”, the Supreme Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi was quoted as saying by the government-run news agency Fars on Monday. Safavi made the comments in an interview with the state-owned Arabic-language news channel al-Alam late Sunday.

“The foremost objective of these exercises was to put on display the strength and resolve of the nation in defending the country against any form of threats by the enemies”, Safavi said.

The IRGC commander said that the only way to bring an end to crises in the Middle East was the withdrawal of United States and British troops from Iraq, Afghanistan, the Persian Gulf, and the Sea of Oman.

“Under no circumstances will there be peace and stability in the region for as long as these foreign forces insist on remaining”, the general said.
