London, 22 Sep – A committee dedicated to seeking justice for the victims of the 1988 Iranian massacre has been formed at the meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The committee, called “Justice for the victims of the 1988 massacre in Iran”, will trigger an inquiry into the massacre and investigate those involved.

The committee, which comprises of lawyers and politicians, believe that this investigation is essential to obtain justice for the families and hold the criminals to account.

This move follows weeks of evidence compiled by the Iranian Resistance surrounding the attempted annihilation of all political opposition in Iran.

It began with an audio recording of a Death Commission meeting which was leaked by Ahmad Montazeri, the son of a former successor to the supreme leader, Hossein Ali Montazeri.

On the tape, Montazeri Sr. can be heard admonishing the Death Commission members for the executions, which he described as among the worst crimes of the history of Iran.

This condemnation led to Montazeri being stripped of power and sentenced to house arrest.

The Resistance recently revealed the names of at least 60 people involved in the massacre who still hold powerful positions in Iran, like Justice Minister, Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi.

Former Colombian presidential candidate, Ingrid Betancourt, said: “This record gets people talking; Iranian society was not necessarily aware of the magnitude of what really happened.”

Indeed, the Iranian Regime claims that they ‘only’ murdered 5,000 people but the true number is around 30,000, including juveniles and pregnant women.
Families disclosed information about the mass graves that the Regime has attempted to hide or destroy over the years.

This news was published by Le Temps, a French-language newspaper in Switzerland and translated by the National council or Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
