Iran Focus: Tehran, Jun. 09 – Tehran, Mohammad Mirza’i, a bodyguard for former Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Mehdi Karroubi, was arrested by security forces and roughed up.

Tehran, Jun. 09 – Tehran, Mohammad Mirza’i, a bodyguard for former Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Mehdi Karroubi, was arrested by security forces and roughed up.
 
Mirza’i, who accompanied the opposition cleric when he visited Behesht-e Zahra cemetery and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini’s mausoleum on Thursday, was arrested afterwards by security forces and taken to an unknown location.
 
According to Karroubi’s Etemad Melli Party, the security forces severely beat him up, causing serious injury to his face, mouth and teeth. Mirza’i is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.
 
The security forces also confiscated his personal belongings, including mobile phone, wallet and identity cards. He was driven around to several locations and ultimately let go Friday morning.
 
Last month, Ahmad Yazdan-Far, Mir Hossein Mousavi’s chief bodyguard for 27 years, was arrested by security forces. No reason was given for his detention.
