Tehran, Sep. 28 – Jewellers and goldsmiths at Tehran’s Grand Bazaar on Tuesday went on strike for a fourth day running.

Tuesday’s strike was larger than on previous days, and virtually all jewellers and goldsmiths in the capital were on strike.

The Farvardin and Khordad malls, which distribute gold and jewellery across Iran, and the large mall in Sabzeh Meydan were completely closed down.

The large gold and jewellery centre in Karimkhan Street, a major wholesaler, as well as jewellery stores and goldsmiths in Sadeqiya and Sattar Khan were also closed, as was the Silk Bazaar in Kaaj Square in Sa’adat Abad district.

Other jewellery shops and goldsmiths throughout the capital were closed in support of the strike in the Bazaar.
