Iran’s parliament dismissed the Roads and Transportation Minister after blaming him for failing to improve road and air safety, state-run news agencies reported.

Hamid Behbahani lost a no-confidence vote today with 147 deputies in favor of his dismissal, 78 against and nine abstaining, the Press TV news channel reported. The vote took place after an impeachment motion was lodged this month, the official Islamic Republic News Agency said.

Behbani’s dismissal follows the Jan. 10 crash of an Iran Air plane near the northern city of Orumiyeh in which at least 77 people were killed.
