Tehran, Iran, May 14 – Iran has lifted a ban on two state-run dailies one of which had been shut down for the past seven years.

The daily Sharq resumed publication on Monday after a nine-month suspension. It was closed down last year for publishing a cartoon mocking President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The journal Ham Mihan also returned to the newsstands on Sunday.
