Tehran, Iran, Oct. 06 – Seventeen people died when a truck slammed into a bus on a stretch of road north-east of the Iranian capital Tehran, state media reported on Saturday.

The crash occurred near the village of Ab-Ali, the official news agency IRNA said.

The report added that 21 people were injured in the crash.

Iran’s highways are considered to be among the most dangerous in the world, with some 100,000 road-accident deaths occurring in the last five years, the equivalent of three deaths an hour.
